General presentation of Os Skog AS
Os Skog AS is a forest company with a long experience and high expertise in forest management in the Nordic countries.
The company, with 1,000,000 NKR in share capital, is owned both by private individuals and other companies.
Our employees have either college or forest school education in forest management or certificates of apprenticeship in forest work. This along with nearly 30 years versatile experience in the branch provides us with vast professional competence and all-round work experience.
Os Skog AS offers these services:

Our clients are state forest enterprise Statskog, various municipal forest authorities and enterprises, industrial firm contractors, power companies and private individuals.
Due to outstanding working capacity and the professional pride of our employees we had been entrusted with a number of tasks in oil industry and we still continue to lease our employees to firm contractors dealing with oil and ship building industry.
Today we have working contracts with these companies:
Mesta AS - Norway's largest company specialising in the construction, operation and maintenance of roads. Founded on 1 January 2003, the company is a continuation of the former production activities of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Os Skog AS performs logging and chipping for Mesta AS.
Bergenshalvøens kommunale kraftselskap (BKK), the leading power company in Western Norway, and one of Norway's largest companies in the production, wholesaling and transmission of electrical power. Os Skog AS' work for BKK consists of trimming and cutting of trees in the area of both low and high voltage power transmission lines. In addition we take care of tree waste by chipping it.
Nordtømmer AS, a countrywide company specialising in buying of timber and selling it to customers all over the whole Europe. Os Skog AS provides operational planning services for the company, as well as logging, forwarding, transportation, wharf storage and shipping of timber.
Municipality of Bergen, municipality of the second-largest city in Norway, has a contract with Os Skog AS on replanting of forest after harvesting.
We started with reforesting in 1979. Plant material that we use is mostly plug ant root seedlings of needle-leave trees. But we plant leave trees as well.
During the reforesting process we have constantly been and still are confronted with different problems, such as, for instance, insects, drought, frost and hard soil. Therefore we have to work with finding the right time, plant material and type of tree as well as to provide a proper care for seedlings and planting area.
This is crucial in order to achieve the high quantity of thriving plants and keep number of spots with no plants as low as possible. High percentage of seedlings that takes root at the first planting makes supplementary planting lesser or even unnecessary.
Christmas tree: In 1995 one of our shareholders has established one the biggest Christmas tree plantation in Norway. As a member of Norsk Pyntegrønt Forsøksring, a country-round consult and forestry organisation, he has also established cooperation with one of the most outstanding forestry scientists in Europe, Terje Pundsnes. He is an expert on cultivation techniques and control of plant diseases. Finding and controlling of plant diseases in early phase of plants lives is crucial for production of good and healthy trees. Considering this, Terje Pundsnes' competence and knowledge is in class of its own.
During the last 30 years we have planted in harvested areas as well as in ones where forest planting was used to improve the existing stand. In the last years we were mostly occupied by reforesting after the first harvesting of plantation and by establishing of Christmas trees plantations.
